"Welcome everyone!
I’m Celeste (wife, mom, grandma of 8) and I’m living proof we’re never too old to make good changes! Prior to 2018, I was a dedicated couch potato both in my job and my home life (I had lots of years of practice). That year I joined a Meetup group for walking and hiking, although the group only walked and I quickly became bored. In 2019, I began exploring various hiking groups, and soon found them much too fast for my sloth-paced self. Exploration continued and I soon met some amazing women who hiked at my pace. I had found my happy place!
A missed opportunity to hike led me to taking up tent camping, but first I had to take yoga so I could get down on the ground and back up (yes, I was that out of shape). That led me to Trail Dames, which I found fit me perfectly! Since then, I have camped and hiked all over North Carolina and am now leading hikes. I’m still very slow (that will never change), but that allows me to stop and smell the flowers or look at those cool mushrooms or enjoy those amazing views. And of course, take lots of pictures!
